Jalandhar, August 19, 2015: On completion of his successful tenure as Vajra Corps Commander Lt Gen NPS Hira is now moving to the prestigious appointment of Chief of Staff Northern Command at Udhampur. At the helm of 11 Corps, Gen Hira made sterling contribution to enhance the operational readiness of Corps by transforming its Operational Plans to imbibe offensive spirit while maintaining defensive balance. His thrust on meaningful welfare of troops aimed at meeting their aspirations and empowerment of their families through upgradation of Vocational Training Centres and station amenities has raised their morale.
His efforts to meet the aspirations of ex-servicemen by setting up new ECHS Poly Clinics, Ex-servicemen Canteens, organizing Veterans Rallies and energizing the Army Placement Nodes to rehabilitate ex-servicemen after retirement have left a lasting impact on them. He was instrumental in organizing ‘Know Your Army’ campaign in schools and colleges and commemoration events on Golden Jubilee of Indo Pak 1965 War, which have motivated the youth to join Army. 11 Corps has also been on forefront of flood relief efforts in Punjab and rescue and rehabilitation of Kashmir flood victims last year.
Gen Hira will be remembered not only for his contribution to operational and administrative preparedness of Vajra Corps but also for his welfare initiatives touching lives of serving and retired Armed Forces personnel in Punjab.
