Chandigarh, July 27, 2015: The Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam (84) who died in a private hospital at Shillong after having collapsed at the Indian Institute of Management while delivering a lecture to the students of B-School.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described the country’s 11th President Dr. Kalam as a towering and multifaceted personality being a true statesman, an eminent academician, a noted nuclear scientist and above all a fine human being. The Chief Minister recalled the outstanding services rendered by Dr. Kalam for the ameliorating the lot of downtrodden and lower strata of society besides inspiring the youth to compete globally in the field of emerging advanced studies, science and technology. He will be ever remembered by one and all as a missile man of India and for his rare accomplishments especially in the field of social service for which Dr. Kalam was awarded Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, Mr. Badal prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give courage to them to bear this huge loss in this hour of grief.
