Chandigarh, July 25, 2015: Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal was being constantly updated about the rescue and relief operations being carried out by the National Disaster Response Force Teams (NDRF) in close coordination with the Himachal Pradesh Administration to ferry out the bodies from the Parbati River in which an ill fated bus from Punjab carrying nearly 60 passengers fell on Thursday evening near Bhuntar in Kullu district.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that as per the reports received from IG Punjab Mr. Rakesh Chandra, who has been especially deputed to coordinate the relief and rescue operations by the State government has informed out of 21 injured, 17 have been discharged from the Local Government Hospital Kullu after treatment and four were admitted in PGIMER, Chandigarh. He said of 37 missing persons, nine bodies have been recovered so far and have been dispatched to their respective destinations in Punjab, which in turn have been further handed over to their family members.
Mr. Chandra informed that the NDRF teams have not yet got any major breakthrough in locating neither the bodies nor the bus because of muddy water due to heavy rains at higher reaches and strong current of the water downstream. He further said that few observation posts have been set up at the Pandoh and Larji Dams to spot these bodies seen afloat in the still water there. Even Control Rooms have also been set up at both these dams to give any information regarding the recovery of bodies to the concerned authorities in Himachal Pradesh.
