CBI Arrests A Registrar Of Firms & Societies Of Delhi For Accepting A Bribe Of Rs 10 Lakhs

New Delhi, July 17, 2015: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Registrar of Firms & Societies, Govt. of NCT, Delhi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10 lakhs from the complainant.
CBI had registered a case u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation that the Registrar of Firms & Societies was demanding a bribe of Rs.One crore from the complainant for certification of Executive Committee pertaining to a society of Plot Holders Association and declaring the complainant as the President of the said society. This society had been registered since 1978 and is having huge land bank & substantial deposits in the bank. Its Executive Committee was required to be certified by Registrar, Firm & Societies, including the names of the office bearers viz. President, Secretary etc. It was further alleged that the accused told the complainant that he will not take less than Rs. one crore for this work and assured him that his work will be done after payment. The accused directed the complainant to hand over Rs. 10 lakhs and arrange for remaining amount of Rs. 90 lakhs. CBI laid a trap and caught the Registrar, Firms & Societies red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10 lakhs from the complainant.
Searches are being conducted at the office & residential premises of the accused.
The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow in the Designated Court at Delhi.
