Chandigarh, July 14, 2015: Civil Hospital, Panchkula today became the first hospital in Haryana which is computerized. Haryana Health Minister Mr Anil Vij inaugurated the computerized project which is an initiative towards realizing the dream of Digital India of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. This facility would be initiated in all hospitals of Haryana by March 2016.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Vij said that during the current financial year, all 55 hospitals, 20 District Hospitals, and three Medical Colleges in the state would be linked with State Wide Area Network in order to computerize them. Under this system, registration slips of patients in hospitals, their medical history, treatment, medicines, test reports and x-ray and the likes would be made available online. This would help the patient in getting treatment in any other hospital of the state without carrying his documents. Not only this, patients visiting government hospitals would be given one Unique ID number in which his Electronic Health Record (EHR) would be kept. This would help the doctor in getting complete medical history of the patient and would give treatment accordingly, he added.
The Health Minister also inaugurated the Central Sterile Supply Department at the hospital in Panchkula. Mr Vij also visited the emergency unit, toilets, Operation Theater, pharmacy, ultrasound room, wards, dental science and other departments of the hospital and expressed concern over the shortcomings. He ordered that necessary facilities be provided without any delay. Mr Vij also interacted with patients admitted to the hospital and enquired about treatment being given to them. He also questioned about the non-functional x-ray machine for the past over one year in Dental department of the hospital and asked Director General Health Services Dr D. P. Lochan to submit an enquiry report in two days. Besides this, he issued directions for the investigation of material of Panchkula hospital building built by National Buildings Construction Corporation.
Mr Vij said that in the regime of present government, the number of patients in OPDs in government hospitals have increased to about 50 lakh, due to the good facilities being provided there. He said that the government would provide all best facilities in hospitals for the patients so that they are not referred in any other hospital due to lack of facility. He said that in order to provide the people with modern facilities, a trauma centre with all modern facilities would be set up at national highway. Besides this, a trauma centre would also be set up at Agroha for the facility of people of Hisar area.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary, Health, Mr R. R. Jowel, Director General, AYUSH, Mr Gulshan Ahuja, National Health Mission, Managing Director, Mr S. Narayanan and Director General Health Services Dr D. P. Lochan were also present. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
