Chandigarh, June 26, 2015: Haryana Food and Supplies Department has cancelled licenses of as many as 90 depot holders for committing various irregularities. Also, security amounting to Rs 10.17 lakh of 228 dealers has been forfeited upto the month of May of the current financial year 2015-16.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Department said that essential commodities were being provided to the people through 9,313 fair price shops located in urban and rural areas, near industrial units, schools and hostels of students.
He said that out of the total fair price shops functioning in the State, 6,542 were located in the rural areas and 2,771 in urban areas. As many as 77 fair price shops were located near industrial units and 22 fair price shops were located near schools or hostels, he added.
Vigilance Committees at Fair Price Shop at Block, District and State Level have been constituted for ensuring transparency and proper functioning of the Targeted Public Distribution System, he further added./(SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
