Chandigarh, June 26, 2015: Union Ministry of External Affairs has honoured Haryana Director General of Police Mr Yash Pal Singal with a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ for rendering outstanding service to curtail delay in sending police verification for issuance of passports. Also, Haryana Police has been adjudged as one of the three best States or UTs on passport applications verification data for the financial year 2014-15.
The honour has been conferred upon him by Union External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj at Jawahar Lal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi. For the implementation of Online Passport Sewa Project in the State, the officers of Haryana Police and CID have made strenuous efforts to speed up sending of Police Verification Reports (PVRs) to Regional Passport Offices of Delhi and Chandigarh. Mr Yash Pal Singal has made concerted efforts for the implementation of the project.
The pendency of PVRs for issuance of passports in various districts was for more than 21 days, which has now been brought down from 30 per cent to 10 per cent since the launch of the project in May 2010.
