Dalai Lama turned 80 today, Virbhadra 81 tomorrow.. Both cut birthday cake at Dharamshala

Dharamshala, June 22, 2015: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday participated in the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday celebrations, and both the dignitaries cut the cake simultaneously and offered a bite to each other  at the  premises of the Tsuglagkhang (the main Tibetan temple at Mecleodganj Dharamsala,India) at the Jam  packed area with people on Monday  morning for the second day of two days celebrations of  the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday. The Tibetans included many monks and nuns, as well as laypeople in their best clothes and students from Tibetan schools. In his short but impressive speech HP CM Vir Bhadra said that  the Tibetan spiritual leader is an “apostle of peace and struggle”. Virbhadra Singh, who is also celebrating his 81 birthday on Tuesday, released a 10-volume biographical series on the Dalai Lama’s life jointly with the spiritual leader . according to English calander the birthday of Dalai lama shall be on 6th July, on that day he will be in the USA
Virbhadra Singh wished the elderly Buddhist monk a healthy and long life and said ”The Dalai Lama is a revered leader and a preacher of peace, tranquility and goodwill. He is an apostle of peace and struggle, who is known for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet.Dalai Lama is not only the leader of Tibetan people but humanity at large.”
Speaking near to  the Dalai Lama’s official residence  at McLeodganj near Dharamshala, Chief minister said.”We are lucky that His holiness has created his official work place in Dharamshala ,where his elected government is working and it is in my Himachal.” Vir Bhadra said that we all admire Him as he is the living example of high thinking in adverse conditions.
”The Dalai Lama has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression and carried out his humanitarian efforts. He became the first Nobel laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems too,” he added.
The chief minister accompanied the Dalai Lama to an exhibition of biographical ‘thangka’ paintings, depicting the life of the Tibetan monk, who is revered as a spiritual leader in the Orient and the West. Dalai Lama gave Vir Bhadra a statue of Buddha as Birthday gift.
Thousands of Tibetan exiles, foreigners and Indian dignitaries joined in the birthday celebrations here on Sunday too.
