Chandigarh, June 12, 2015: Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Mr Nek Chand, the creator of world famous Rock Garden, who passed away at a hospital last night following a cardiac arrest.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Mr Nek Chand would be ever remembered by one and all for his masterpiece creation of Rock Garden in the city beautiful, which was an example of his creativity, aesthetics, hard work and zeal to serve the society in his own unique way. He said that this iconic Rock Garden was built from waste and other unused household materials, which showed the path to people to sensibly utilise this waste material. “In the death of Mr. Nek Chand a huge void has been created in the world of art and craft, which will be difficult to be filled in the near future” added Mr. Badal.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give courage to family members to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Information and Public Relations Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia also condoled the death of Mr. Nek Chand.
Bajwa pays tributes to Chandigarh icon Nek Chand
Chandigarh, June 12, 2015: The Punjab Congress President, Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, today said legendary Nek Chand brought the City Beautiful on the world map of creative artists and his death last night was the biggest loss not only for the people of Chandigarh but all those who were part of the creative world of art.
He said Nek Chand was a super genius and one of a kind who created the world famous rock garden but at the same time, he was a picture of total humility.
He offered his condolences to the bereaved family and said the legend would live on through his creation.
