Maharashtra leads with 7 such bodies followed by Kerala with 5; Centre asks states to streamline sanction procedures to enable approvals in one month
New Delhi, April 22, 2015: 27 urban bodies including municipal corporations and urban development authorities have put in place Online Building Plan Sanctions that help in reducing the time taken for according necessary approvals. This was informed by the Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
Maharashtra leads the list with 7 of its urban bodies going online followed by Kerala with five.
Municipal Corporations who have done so include those of : Greater Mumbai, New Delhi Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation of South Delhi, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Coimbattore, Indore, Nagpur, Solapur, Amravati, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Ujjain, Gwalior, Ulhasnagar, Hubil-Dharwad and Lavasa.
The Development Authorities to have done so are : New Town Kolkata Development Authority, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, Haryana Urban Development Authority, Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and Jaipur Development Authority.
Babul Supriyo further informed that the Ministry of Urban Development has advised the state governments to streamline the building sanction procedures so as to accord clearances in a month’s time.
