Jalandhar, April 9, 2015: The Sikh Light Infantry Regiment conducted its 25th Battalion Commanders’ Biennial Conference at its Regimental Centre at Fatehgarh (Uttar Pradesh) on 07-09 Apr 15,which was presided over by Lt Gen NPS Hira, General Officer Commanding 11 Corps who is the Colonel of the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment. The event was attended by the Commanding Officers and Subedar Majors of all the battalions of the Regiment.
It commenced with a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Regimental War Memorial to honour the fallen Heroes of the regiment who made the supreme sacrifice for their Motherland. During the conference, various issues pertaining to betterment of the Regiment were deliberated and a number of measures and policies to improve the training and welfare were promulgated.
Colonel of the Regiment also addressed Special Sainik Sammelan of 1200 personnel where he highlighted the achievements of the Regiment and gave out his vision to take the Regiment forward. He presented trophies to the Units, which excelled in the sports and other competitions. Thereafter an impressive demonstrations of training activities by the recruits showcasing high level of training standards acquired by them was also organised. A visit to Young Blood Shooting Range, a state of the art firing range which is mentoring a number of international and national shooters was also conducted
Kiran Hira, President Sikh Light Infantry Family Welfare Organisation also interacted with the families of the Regiment in a family welfare meet.
Biennial Conferences are held in every Regiment and Corps of the Indian Army under the chairmanship of the Colonel of the Regiment to discuss regimental issues and are occasions for renewing the regimental and social bonding with veterans and serving soldiers.
