Ludhiana, February 27, 2015: Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu today raised the issue of inequality in the pay and service benefits to the Para-Military force personnel in the country.
Ravneet Singh Bittu said, the BSF guarding our borders takes the first bullet of the enemy, the CRPF is doing a marvelous job in maintaining the internal security of the country, the CISF is protecting our airports, metro stations, but it is sad that the constable in Para-Military Force is getting Rs. 5,000 less per month than his counterpart in Army and when it comes to the officers the difference is staggering Rs. 22,000 per month.
Ravneet said, if we talk of promotions it takes 29 years for the constable in Para-Military forces to reach the rank which a constable in Army reaches in 20 years. The jawans of Para-Military forces get 15 days of casual leave where as the Armymen are entitled to 20-30 days of casual leave in a year.
Expressing anguish at the growing suicides in the Para-Military forces, Ravneet said on the one hand between January, 2011 and January, 2014, 371 personnel lost their lives fighting Naxalites, on the other 368 personnel committed suicide.
In the end, Ravneet Singh Bittu appealed to the Government to grant the personnel to the Para-Military forces pay and service benefits at par with that of the Army Personnel.
