Nurpur Chougan to be developed as Multipurpose Stadium: CM

The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh  after he inaugurated  Rs 32 lakh  Modern Block Office complex cum Block Development Officer’s residence at Nurpur today, addressing the gathering at Block office complex, at Nurpur of Kangra district.
 
All BDO offices to be brought online in the state
Dharamsala, February 23, 2015: “The process of taking over the Nurpur Chougan (ground) from Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) is almost complete and the Government will soon take over the ground and develop it as a multipurpose stadium ,” said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh  after he inaugurated  Rs 32 lakh  Modern Block Office complex cum Block Development Officer’s residence at Nurpur today.
Addressing the gathering at Block office complex, at Nurpur of Kangra district the Chief Minister said that it was not such that the stadium would be used only for playing cricket as the Government was keen to promote other games as well , and after taking over the ground, it would be converted into a Multipurpose stadium for hosting various games and organising festivals.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Chief Minister had earlier sanctioned Rs 1.86 crore for developing synthetic track in Chougan during his previous regime which was later taken over by HPCA.
He lauded the efforts of Block Development officer, Rakesh Kumar Prajapati for converting the Nurpur Development Block  as a model block office in the State and to make it completely online to bring transparency in the  day to day  work.
He said that the Government would like to develop all such offices in the State on the Model as adopted here  which would provide prompt service to the people.
 On the issue of renovation of the Senior Secondary School Nurpur which was raised as a demand , the Chief Minister said that since the school was presently situated inside the historical fort of Nurpur  and the fort was under Archaeological Survey of India, it won’t be possible to undertake repair works, adding that the government mulls to shift the School in the present  college building and the College would be  established at some other suitable place nearby, which would have complete  infrastructural facilities besides road connectivity, if required.
The Chief Minister also urged for early completion of the Nurpur Sewerage Scheme.
Ajay Mahajn MLA Nurpur also welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion and placed few demands of the area before him.
Later the Chief Minister inaugurated link road from Jounta to Mat Maled near Khajjian completed at a cost of Rs 1.90 crore and performed foundation stone laying ceremony of link road from Mat-Maled to Mehalri to cost 51 lakh. He also laid foundation stone of augmentation and improvement of lift drinking water supply scheme , Rinna at Nagni to cost Rs. 12 crore. This scheme will benefit population of 24443 including floating population and will cater to needs of other seven water supply scheme till the year 2034. The Chief Minister also performed foundation stone of link road with bridge across Jabbar Khud from  Badhui  to Baral (via thora school) to be completed at a cost of Rs 2.85 crore and also laid foundation stone of setting up 21 tube-wells for the nearby areas at  Pucca Talla  near Kandwal to cost Rs.16 crore.
