New Delhi, February 18, 2015: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Divisional Engineer(Bridges) working in the Office of DRM, Guntakal (Andhra Pradesh) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant.
A case was registered Under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act Act, 1988 against Divisional Engineer(Bridges) working in the office of DRM, Guntakal on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant for issuing Caution Order and for not creating any trouble in future payments of the contract. CBI laid a trap and caught red handed the accused while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.
The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Hyderabad and remanded to 14 days Judicial Custody.
In another case, CBI has arrested a Chief Office Superintendent of Western Railway, Works Accounts Section, Divisional Office, Pratapnagar, Vadodara (Gujarat) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000 from the complainant.
The complainant (a Contractor) has alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe in lieu of payments of his bills pending in Vadodara Division of Western Railway. CBI registered a case and laid a trap. The accused was caught while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5000 from the complainant.
The office and residential premises of the accused were searched which led to recovery of cash amounting to Rs.2.50 lakhs (approx); documents relating to investment in two properties; LIC Policies; Shares and other incriminating documents.
The accused was produced in the jurisdictional court and remanded to police custody up to 19.02.2015. (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
