Ahmedabad, February 16, 2015: In line with the objective of ensuring that all corporates in the private sector collaborate together to scale up the skill development agenda in India, the Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) and Parliamentary Affairs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy was recently in Ahmedabad in Gomtipur, to visit an AISECT-NSDC skill training centre to see how the candidates were being trained for the future India. He appreciated the sustained and innovative ICT and skills-based initiatives undertaken by AISECT, to bring about an inclusive change in the previously untapped regions in the semi-urban and rural areas of the country.
Shri Rudy interacted with the students, the faculty and AISECT leads to understand the skill development programme being run in the state. Shri Rudy also did a stopover at one of the AISECT - SBI Banking Kiosks and interacted with the Customer Service Point (CSP)to understand the model of delivery and the convenience of services as compared to the bank branches.
To contribute to the training requirement of the large skill deficit that India stands on today, AISECT has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train 1.3 million candidates in the next 10 years. It has formed eleven vocational education academies which offer low cost, high quality teaching through university certified undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate and diploma courses. Various B2C services such as mobile and DTH recharge, examination form download and submission, railway ticket booking, data entry operations etc. are also offered at the AISECT Centres. AISECT, has been carrying out its skill development initiatives in the unorganised sector through a network of over 12,000 centres spread across 27 States and 3 Union Territories for close to three decades now.
Commenting on visit, AISECT’s Director Siddharth Chaturvedi said “This is the first time ever, that a Union Minister of our country has visited our centre to see how the modules are being implemented and how the candidates are being trained. This has given us further impetus to perform even better and ensure that we deliver our best to make this skill development mission a huge success for India.”

So far, AISECT has trained over 1.6 million people at the district, block and panchayat levels.Its partnership with the NSDCto skill an additional 1.3 million people in semi-urban and rural India has been going strong owing to its incredible innovations to reach out to the masses. As a part of the existing AISECT-NSDC partnership programme, AISECT has formed 11 major academies which offer low cost, high quality teaching through university certified Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate and Diploma courses in areas like IT & Management, Hardware & Networking, Teacher Training, Textile, Insurance, Banking & Finance, Organized Retail, Fire Safety & Security, Auto Skills and Agriculture. Last year, AISECT had successfully organised AISECT-NSDC Rojgar Melas in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh with an aim to transform the country’s skills landscape.
