Jalandhar, February 15, 2015: Raised in 1911, the Corps of Signals (Indian Army) has embarked on the 105thyear of its glorious journey on 15 Feb 2015. The proceedings were initiated by a wreath laying ceremony at Amar JawanJyoti, by Lt Gen NitinKohli, SO-in-C & Col Comdt, Corps of Signals, in memory of martyred Signallers, to pay homage for their supreme sacrifice.
As part of this occasion The Signal units in Jalandhar remembered the martyred soldiers and celebrated the raising day with full gaiety here, today. The celebrations included various cultural events followed by Barakhana with all ranks and Ex- servicemen
The Corps of Signals operates at the cutting edge of ICTEC (Information, Communications, Technology, Electronic and Cyber) and has a pan-Indian presence, with several ‘’pioneering firsts’’ to its credit. It is universally acknowledged for its yeoman service during the various wars imposed on independent India, participation in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief response, contribution to sports & adventure and nation building activities. As it embarks upon the 105th year of its glorious existence, the Corps remains inspired by its rich traditions, rooted in the present and aligned with the future, enabling the Indian Army’s transformation into a fully network centric force.
As part of an Army wide initiative, the Corps has reached out to renew associations with disabled soldiers, widows, veer naris and aged, needy veterans. As of 15 February 2015, Signal units across India have identified and adopted over 700 such members of their extended family; and the journey continues.
