Nangal, January 20, 2015: The war against drugs found a resonance in the Nangal city today with the famous astrologer Dr Archana and Vaidya Ishwar Chandra holding a debate on drugs and its impact on society in collaboration with the Apoorva Ayurved. Dignitaries from various walks of life participated in this program and shared their ideas.
Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) national executive member Indresh Kumar, Union Minister Vijay Sampla, Punjab cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal, Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna, Dr Archana, Punjab general secretary organisation Ajay Jamwal and Punjab government’s media advisor Vineet Joshi were amongst the panelists on discussion. Besides from BJP CA cell national co-convener Sanjay Kapoor, Priest Pastor Dass, Muslim community’s representative Rehmat Ali, Pandit Krishan Kant, economist Manu Sharma, Vijay Sardana who runs a rehabilitation centre, advocate Suresh and Dr Chander were also present. The audience comprised of students from various schools and colleges.
Speaking on the importance of creating a drug-free society Indresh Kumar started his lecture with some interesting games. Tickling the audience with his ideas he gave examples of importance of love by stating that if a parent talks to his or her child lovingly, no child could go on wrong path. Laying emphasis on importance of social values he said that the government can only make laws, the society would have to impart values. He said that as a parent we should follow the right path that our child would definitely imitate. He called upon the families to strengthen themselves by asking parents to spend quality time with their children. Quoting the holy-scriptures he said we should take vow to neither sell drugs nor consume drugs.
The Union Minister Vijay Sampla said that there were multifaceted reasons and strategies to combat drugs. He said that we would have to think for solutions from various view points and the family, society and government would have to work as a common component.
Cabinet Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said that blaming each other would yield no result. Fight against drugs is everyone’s responsibility. He also emphasized the roles of religious leaders by openly speaking against drugs and dissuading its usage in masses.
Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna said that every Punjabi was today looking for a way to root out the drugs. Quoting a program of Joshi Foundation held in Chandigarh recently, he said parents’ presence in life meant everything for a child and nothing could replace it. He advocated imparting military training to every youngster so that discipline could be instilled in them at a young age.
