Marking a reform in traditional societal norms, India’s No. 1 Radio Network brings in the bonfire festival by celebrating the birth of a girl child!
New Delhi, January 13, 2015: A pioneer in creating trends and innovations for the betterment of the society, 92.7 BIG FM, India’s largest FM network graced Lohri celebrations in Delhi with a difference on Saturday and Monday.
A festival that is usually celebrated by welcoming the new born boy child was celebrated by 92.7 BIG FM with much gusto surrounding the birth of a girl child, this Lohri. To take merriments a notch higher, popular RJs of 92.7 BIG FM Delhi – RJ Prateek and RJ Khanak visited two households in Delhi NCR where girls were born, to celebrate the harvest festival. On January 10th, and 12th, both, RJ Prateek and Khanak visited a home at Paschim Vihar with a shagun ki thali and a dhol along with a group of dancers who entertained the family, their relatives and other residents in the area by singing ‘tappe’ and ‘boliyan’ during the celebrations.
The criteria for the selection of the families was through registration on SMS - BIG <Space> KDL <Your Name> to 55454. From over 1009 sms registrations, 2 families were selected for the visit.
