Chandigarh, December 24, 2014: The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, former cabinet minister Punjab and MLA Manoranjan Kalia today hailed conferring India’s highest civilian award - Bharat Ratna – to the statesman and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya posthumously.
Kalia said that Vajpayee's tenure as Prime Minister has set an example of good governance in every field economy, defence, international affairs, infrastructure and Vajpayee should have been conferred this award long ago. He added that with Vajpayee’s and Malviya’s birthdays have also been declared as Good Governance Day by the BJP government, which has reinforced the clean image the two statesmen have.
