New Delhi, December 17, 2014: Haryana Agriculture Minister, O.P Dhankar today called on the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Anant Kumar at New Delhi to discuss the matter regarding the availability of manure in the state. The Union Minister has assured Dhankar that there would be no shortage of manure in the state.
The Union Minister said that five railway racks of manure would be sent to Haryana everyday. One rack carries 3000 metric tonnes of manure. Interacting with the media persons after the meeting, Dhankar described the present State Government as farmer friendly and urged the farmers to remain patient. He said that efforts would be made to ensure that there would be no shortage of urea and DAP in the state. Farmers need not to worry as the government is concerned towards this issue and concrete steps were being taken to ensure the timely availability of manure in the state.
The Agriculture Minister said that a total of 3, 24, 700 metric tonnes of urea has been allocated to Haryana for the month of December and it is being supplied regularly. Apart from this, additional 50,000 metric tonnes has been reserved by the Central Government which would be supplied as and when needed. He said that though there is difference in rate of manure in Haryana and neighboring states, it is being monitored. In Haryana, manure is Rs 62 cheaper than that of Uttar Pradesh, he added.
Dhankar said that the Department has started two helpline numbers 0172-2570662 and 2571533 for registering complaints regarding black marketing of manure on which people could register their complaints between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. He said that the aim of starting these numbers was to facilitate the farmers so as to ensure timely availability of manure and also to save them from being cheated. He said that so far FIR has been registered against 20 people so as to check the black marketing of manure.
