Dharamsala, December 5, 2014: The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today flagged off 37 ambulances from police ground Dharamsala for Kangra, Chamba and Una districts under the ambitious ‘Janani Express-102’ scheme, (Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram, JSSK), wherein free transport and drop back facility would be provided to the expectant mothers and women after delivery and the sick child up to one year of age.
Under the scheme, 125 ambulances are being made operational throughout the State and in the first phase, 45 ambulances were flagged off by the Chief Minister from historic Ridge, Shimla for Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla and Kinnaur districts in mid-November and in the second phase as many as 43 ambulances were launched by Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur for Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur and Lahaul-Spiti districts from Mandi on 1st December, 2014.
Today, 37 ambulances flagged off today would be operated in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode with GVK-EMRI, Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister on the occasion said that these vehicles would be deployed at delivery points in the State depending upon the expected case load and the service would be extended free of cost as drop back
transport after discharge from the hospital to all pregnant women, women after delivery and the children of less than one year from hospital.
The services would be available through 102 toll free number.
Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, MLA Shri Sanjay Rattan, Chairman HP State Education
Board, Balbir Tegta, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Vineet Chaudhary, Chairman GVK Mukul Sukumaran were also present on the occasion.
