Dharamsala, December 1, 2014: Spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Himachal Chief Minister Vir Bhadra Singh Shall jointly inaugurate the International Himalyan Festival on December 10 at Meleodganj Dharamsala. This festival is being organised by Himachal Tourism Department to celebrate the silver jubilee year of presentation of Nobel Peace prize to Dalai Lama.
Briefing about the festival, Vice Chairman of the Tourism Development Board of Himachal Pradesh Maj Vijay Singh Mankotia said, “About 230 artists from Arunachal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, J&K, Punjab and Rajasthan shall participate in this two days cultural extravaganza .”
He further said that Himachali artists of 7 districts shall also perform in Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts TIPA at upper Dharamsala on December 10 and 11.
Mankotia said, “Central Tibetan Administration CTA has also invited cultural troops from Russia, Mangolia and Bhutan to take part in this festival.” He said that though Dalai Lama is going to Rome to participate in the December 12 Nobel Peace Laureates’ Conference, yet agreed to be the a part in the opening ceremony of Himalayan International Festival at Tsuglakhang, the main Tibetan Temple at Mecleodganj.
