Chandigarh, November 22, 2014: The festivity of Punjab Day was the centre of attraction at the Punjab Pavilion in 34th India International Trade Fair -2014 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on Friday. A cultural evening on the occasion was organised by the Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation Ltd., Chandigarh, where Pooja enthralled the large number of audience with her popular numbers. The audience swayed with the pulsating rhythm of the folklore.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Madan Mohan Mittal, Minster of Industries & Commerce, Technical Education & Industrial Training and Parliamentary affairs, Punjab, who was profuse in his praise in the way in swhich Punjab has been presented in this trade fair. The other guests present were Raminder Singh, IAS, Secretary & Director of Industries , Punjab, Shakti Sharma, Chairman, PSIEC and Yashvir Mahajan, IAS, Managing Director, PSIEC, Chandigarh. The dignitaries also took a round of the Punjab Pavilion.
The main entrance depicted the big sculpture of the lady which was an example of how she was sculpting her destiny through sheer hard work. The women pictures on the top showcased women entrepreneurs doing exceedingly well in their respective domain. The other side showed young girls taking big strides in becoming self reliant. On one side of the entrance there was a depiction of green and white revolution. Visitors were greeted to a cultural treat with colorful pictures of dancers, wide fields and great landscape the state boasts of. The central piece that was Tree of Growth, represented the green energy thereby symbolizing the overall growth of the State.
The other highlight of the area was live artists who had come from various parts of the State to display their skill to the visitors. The area also had interesting display of various artifacts and traditional phulkari arts. There were also two live models, which very effectively brought to forefront Punjab being the food basket of India and milk revolution was also one of the highlights. There was also a great display of small scale industry of Punjab. The ground floor showed the traditional Punjabi products such as traditional Phulkari embroidery, Punjabi Juttis, Suits, ‘Amritsari Papar Wadian’ being sold to customers delight.
