Ludhiana, November 17, 2014: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) commemorated the 86th death anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai in Jagraon in a big way on Monday in Lala Lajpat Rai Park. The volunteers organised a Blood Donation Camp before the start of the Homage function. A March was organised from Lala Lajpat Rai Park to the house of the Martyr Lala Lajpat Rai and large number of AAP Volunteers participated in the March. AAP leaders Sucha Singh Chotepur, Harvinder Singh Phoolka, Hardip Singh Kingra, Gurbinder Singh Kang, Varinder Khara, Jatinder Modgil, Col. J S Gill and district Ludhiana In-charge Ahbaab Grewal participated in the March.
Speaking on the occasion, the AAP State Convener Sucha Singh Chotepur highlighted sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai. It was highlighted that Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai fought for the freedom of the country and would have pained much on seeing the present state of the Indian population. He urged people to build India of Lala Ji’s dream and take a pledge to fight for good governance.
AAP Spokesperson Harvinder Singh Phoolka said Lala Lajpat Rai was once the president the congress party and he died of police lathi charge which was directly due to the action of the then Raj. The history has been distorted and the role of Lion of Punjab in the national moment has been down played. Even he chapters of history have been rewritten and Lala Ji don't find mention in newly written distorted history. We in Punjab will not tolerate this and will always commemorate the martyr. The stature of Lala Ji is much bigger than anyone as he made the supreme sacrifice of his life for our freedom. He died so we live in peace and freedom. Let us all vow today that we will not rest till the freedom of dreams of Lala Ji is not achieved. This will be the biggest homage to Lala Ji.
