Ferozepur, November 3, 2014: Ever vigilant BSF “Seema Prehris” foiled yet another smuggling bid on India-Pakistan border and recovered 22 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin and a Pakistani SIM of Zong company at BOP Ulloke, Ferozepur during the wee hours. The estimated international market value of the heroin seized by the BSF is a staggering 110 Crore.
R K Thapa, DIG, Ferozepur Sector while addressing the media persons said that following the inputs, Ashok Kumar, IG, BSF, Punjab Frontier, had issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination for effective check on the menace of narcotics smuggling. on 2nd November, during the wee hours, the BSF troops deployed at BOP Ulloke, near Pillar Number 189/2 and 189/3, found some suspicious movement of smugglers ahead of border security fense. The BSF troops immediately smelt the danger and challenged the unseen enemy. When they still found the movement, they shot four rounds to stop smuggler’s misadventure. However, the miscreants managed to flee taking advantage of foggy weather. Later during the search, 22 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin, one Pakistani SIM (Zong) and 12 feet long plastic pipe was recovered.
R K Thapa, said that the IG, Punjab frontier has announced cash reward and his commendation roll to the personnel who participated in this operation.
When asked about the security measures at Hussainiwala after the recent incident at Wagha Border, The DIG said that BSF is ever vigilant and more strict measures shall be taken.
