New Delhi, October 31, 2014: In a message issued here on the eve of Haryana Day, the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that today is also the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. He paid rich tributes to Sardar Patel, a great freedom fighter and a symbol of national unity, who was also the first Home Minister of the country.
It is heartening to know that on next Haryana Day, the state would enter the golden jubilee year of its foundation. Having rich cultural heritage, Haryana is the land of Gita. While the farmers have made it a land of plenty, the brave soldiers of the state have always come forward to sacrifice their lives for the safety of the country.
The Chief Minister said that on the occasion of Haryana Day, a new campaign known as ‘Aao Banaye Sawarnim Haryana’ would be launched. TheSwarnim Haryana would have peace, communal harmony and strong bonds of brotherhood. The government would follow the policy of ‘One Haryana-One Haryanavi’ and priority would be given to the development of agriculture, irrigation, rural areas, power, health, industry, education and welfare of youth, women, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes.
He promised the people an efficient, responsible, corruption-free and transparent administration. There would be all-round development in the state which would offer security to women and girls. Each household would have the facility of clean drinking water, and each field would also have water for irrigation. The farmers, jawans and entrepreneurs would face no problems and the rural areas would be developed on the pattern of the urban areas.
While describing himself as a son of a farmer, Manohar Lal said that he had grown up in the rural areas and was aware of the problems faced by the farmers. Although the farmers work hard, their welfare needs a lot to be desired. He criticized the previous state and Central Governments for continued discrimination of this section of society which had made the condition of the farmers pitiable.
The Chief Minister said that his government was committed to ushering in second green revolution to ameliorate the lot of the farming community. He recalled that great humanitarian Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay used to say that financial planning and financial growth could be assessed from the status of the lowest strata, and not from those who are in the upper strata of the society. Inspired by this philosophy, all welfare measures would be focused on enhancing the socio-economic status of the poorest among the poor. A chair named after great social worker Dr Mangal Sein has been instituted in Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
The youth of Haryana is feeling dejected. They are not getting jobs in keeping with their qualifications. “During my interaction with the people, I have gathered that there has been discrimination in giving jobs. Let me assure you that my government would give jobs purely on the basis of merit and education would be made job-oriented”, he added.
The Chief Minister said that steps would be taken to check the decline in sex ratio and the cause of girls’ education would be promoted.
He regretted that industrialization had only aimed at grabbing land. The state government would try to ensure that industries are set up only on the land which is less fertile. He welcomed the entrepreneurs who are keen on investing in Haryana and vowed to eliminate the inspector raj and create a congenial atmosphere for industrialisation. The economy of the state would be put on rails and the hard earned income of the people would be utilised for carrying out development works, the Chief Minister added.
Manohar Lal said that history was made in the elections to the 13th State Assembly. The people have endorsed the achievements made by the NDA government at the Centre during the last five months and given the mandate on the basis of the image of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, his able leadership and potential. This election is a victory of fair and transparent administration and progress over the dynastic politics. The people have risen above casteism, regionalism and given massive mandate to the BJP. In consonance with the wishes of the people, the members of the legislature party elected him their leader.
He listed the various schemes and initiatives taken by the new Central Government during the last five months. These included setting up of a special investigation team to bring back black money from abroad; eliminating middle men from the sale of fruits and vegetables; bringing the GDP to the level of 5.7 per cent; opening of bank accounts of 7.5 crore poor and unbanked families under Jan Dhan Yojna; launching of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Karyakram’; and ‘Shramev Jayate Yojana’. These schemes would have far reaching effects. The Central Government has also tamed inflation and all these measures have enhanced the image of India all over the world.
He said that during the election campaign, Modi had given the people of the state the blueprint for a bright future of Haryana. He had appealed for ‘Sab Ka Saath-Sab Ka Vikas’ and promised corruption-free Haryana. The state government would do its best to follow the high ideals propounded by Modi in letter and spirit, the Chief Minister added.
The Prime Minister has launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. His wants torealize the dream of having Swachh Bharat by the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. He has urged the people of the state to make a solid contribution in realising the dream. The Chief Minister said that ‘Swachh Haryana - Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, a weekly campaign, was being launched in the state from November 1 which happens to be the Haryana Day. The people should wholeheartedly participate in the campaign to make their streets, villages and towns clean.
He also asked the people to help in the creation of a clean society which is free from crime, intoxication and addiction. Social evils must be eradicated if we want to realise our dream of living in a bountiful Haryana, the Chief Minister added.
