Jalandhar, October 27, 2014: The 68th Infantry Day was celebrated at Headquarters Vajra Corps, Jalandhar Cantonment, on today (27 October) with great fervor and elan to commemorate the occasion.
In a sombre ceremony held at Vajra War Memorial, wreaths were laid in obeisance of the martyrs by Lieutenant General NPS Hira, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps, veterans, serving officers alongwith the junior commissioned officers and jawans of the Vajra Corps.
\On this day in 1947, gallant soldiers of Infantry landed in Srinagar to defend Kashmir, the Crown of India from the Pak invaders. The determination, courage and patriotism of our Infantry soldiers saved the Kashmir Valley from the nefarious design of the intruders. The day is aptly remembered and celebrated as the ‘Infantry Day’.
