In an endeavour to promote Indian Handicrafts & Handlooms and to showcase the rich heritage of India, Central Cottage Industries corporation of India, a PSU under Ministry of Textiles, Govt. Of India (CCIE) is organising “Cottage Mela” an exhibition cum sale of Handicraft and Handloom created by craftsmen from all over the country from October 20- 26 at Gallery-III , Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Kumara krupa Road, Bengaluru. The exhibition is open from10.30 am to 7.30 pm.
The inauguration was done by Neha Saxena, Cine Artist.
Cottage Mela focuses on the creation of the artisans representing the varied art and craft traditions of India’s culturally enriched regions by providing a glimpse of their culture and a chance to exchange creativities.
On display are exquisite Jewellery from Jaipur and Terracotta Jewellery from Bengal, Orissa paintings, Madhubani paintings from Bihar, Carvings in wood from Tamil Nadu, Lucknow Chikan work women’s wear and sarees, Jaipur prints dress fabrics, bedspread and quilts, Kolkotta hand embroidered sarees, dress fabrics , table linen & bedspread, Pochampalli printed Sarees, bedspread & dress fabrics from Andhra Pradesh and last but not the least exclusive Shawls and Stoles from Kashmir. Also there is special display of Terracotta Diya for Deepavali along with exquisite Cottage Furniture both corded, oriental and dhokra brass craft from Delhi.
This Cottage Mela is yet another step by CCIE to encourage the craft persons and present their creations to the discerning buyers from all parts of the globe.
