IDPD and PDPD in joint statement express serious concern at ongoing firing on Indo-Pak Border

"We are poor nations and peace is the only alternative for both the countries to prosper. This is even more important particularly in the wake of flood on both sides in Jammu and Kashmir which have caused unprecedented devastation and requires lot of empathy and finances to meet with this loss."

Ludhiana, October 9, 2014: The Indian Doctors For Peace and Development (IDPD) and Pakistan Doctors For Peace and Development (PDPD) in a joint statement expressed serious concern at the ongoing firing on the Indo-Pak Border by both sides leading to several casualties. There is a danger that this could escalate into a larger conflict and threaten peace and development in the region. We are poor nations and peace is the only alternative for both the countries to prosper. This is even more important particularly in the wake of flood on both sides in Jammu and Kashmir which have caused unprecedented devastation and requires lot of empathy and finances to meet with this loss.

Dr L S Chawla – President IDPD, Dr Tipu Sultan – President PDPD, Dr Surinder sIngh Soodan – Sr. Vice President IDPD, Dr G M Malik, DR N S Bawa ,  Dr Arun Mitra – General Secretary and Dr Bharti Uppal Finance Secretary  have appealed to both the governments to immediately take steps to halt this firing and hold mutual dialogue.
