Dharamsala, October 4, 2014: India International Friendship Society, a leading voluntary organisation that has for long been a strong advocate of the economic growth and national integration has chosen Er.Pavan Kumar Kohli of Himachal for this year’s Rashtriya Gaurav Award. Er.Kohli is currently working as Director (Civil) at Himachal Electricity board ( HPSEB). Er.Kohali will receive the award on November 24 in New Delhi.
Er. Kohli has been selected for this award for his contributions in the field of hydro-power. In a long career spanning several decades in the power sector, he has served in the capacity of Chief Engineer in HPSEB at Sunder Nagar, District Mandi.
The India International Friendship Society (IIFS) is a private voluntary organisation based in New Delhi, India whose stated aim is to strengthen the ties between India and its expatriate community in hopes of using the resources and potential of these expatriates to benefit India. The organisation's chief activity is the awarding of the "Glory of India Award" (also called the "Bharat Jyoti Award") in ceremonies held regularly in New Delhi and in international cities with large expatriate Indian communities.
In the past, this award has been on some eminent personalities such as Dev Anand, Sunil Dutt, Basappa Danappa Jatti, Rajesh Khanna, Prem Chand Pandey, Kamlesh Patel, Amichand Rajbansi, Dhirubhai Shah, Chaudhary Ishwar Singh, Mother Teresa, Pankaj Udhas, Drukchen Jigme Pema Wangchen, Dev Ananad, Justice P N Bhagwati, Sunil Gavaskar and Prem Kumar Dhumal, former Chief Minister of the state of Himachal Pradesh.
