New Delhi, September 23, 2014: In a statement issued today, BJP Central Media Cell has stated that “during the recent visit of the President of People’s Republic of China, three Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between China and State of Gujarat at hotel Hyatt in Ahmedabad. The news appeared in a section of press stating that on the occasion of signing of MOUs, the employees hailing from the North – Eastern States of India were asked to go on leave. This news is completely false and far from truth.
During the visit of dignitaries, staff working in Hotel Hyatt from North Eastern region was present in the hotel doing their respective duties. In fact, one of the main Chefs who catered to the Chinese delegation was from North-East. Person in charge of the main Banquet Floor was a lady from North-East region. No instruction were issued either from the side of Hotel Management or from Police department barring employees from North-East region during the visit of the Chinese President. For security reasons, the Mall adjoining the Hotel was closed for general public.
Gujarat has always had a tradition of welcoming citizens from all parts of India to come, work and live in Gujarat. There is strong bond of brotherhood feeling exist in Gujarat. Government of Gujarat has been very sensitive to any such incidents taking place in any part of the State.
We strongly condemn the false news being propagated by vested interests in tarnishing the image of Gujarat.”
