Jalandhar, September 23, 2014: 22 Sikh Regiment celebrated it 34th Raising day with Fervor and Gaiety at Mhow, today. This Regiment was raised on 01 September 1980 at Ramgarh Cantt by Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier) JL Anand (Retired).
On this auspicious occasion, a large number of Veterans, Ex-Commanding Officers, Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and serving officers attended the celebrations. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Lieutenant General GS Shergill, Chief of Staff, Central Command and Colonel of The Sikh Regiment. The General Officer attended the Gurudwara function to seek the blessings of ‘Waheguru’ for the unit. The Colonel of the Regiment and the veterans also paid tribute to the martyrs of 22 Sikh at the unit War Memorial. Apart from the social events, on traditional note, Lieutenant General GS Shergill inspected the Quarter Guard of the unit and appreciated the high standards of the Battalion in all spheres of military life.
The General Officer also addressed the Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of the SIKH Regiment, wherein he expressed his utmost satisfaction on the outstanding performance of the battalion and the Regiment. He also interacted with the Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris and gave a very patient hearing to their problems. The Colonel of the Sikh Regiment urged every soldier to fully exploit the exotic opportunities being made available by the Army and live up to the ethos and glorious traditions of the SIKH Regiment.
