Jalandhar, September 13, 2014: Vajra Corps Task force Team has been working round the clock in flood affected area of Srinagar for the last six days. The Vajra Corps Team has evacuated 4015 people from flood affected areas of Srinagar to safer places. Along with this aid Vajra Corps has dispatched flood relief material to Srinagar for the use of flood affected people of Srinagar. Apart from this, additional signal equipment has also been flown to Srinagar to reinforce communications with the flood relief Teams of Engineers Task Force deployed in the worst affected areas of Srinagar.
Rescue operations by the flood relief columns of ‘Vajra’ Corps entered into its sixth day today. Engineer Task Force of ‘Vajra’ Corps rescued 899 pers on 12 Sept (Friday) in the ongoing rescue operations in Srinagar, making the total number of people rescued to 4015 so far. In a Special rescue operation, the Task Force evacuated 45 children from an orphanage in Mehzoor Nagar, 25 students from Darul-illem school at Jawahar Nagar, 150 children from Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium and 45 senior citizens from Gurudwara at Jawahar Nagar.
