Ferozepur, March 13, 2013: Lieutenant General Ashwini Kumar Bakshi took over command of the elite Vajra Corps on Wednesday.
After taking over, he paid homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the War Memorial.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy Khadakvasala, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and National Defence College New Delhi, Lieutenant General Bakshi was commissioned in the Bihar Regiment in Jun 1975. The General officer has held various coveted command, staff and instructional appointments during his chequered carrier. He has attended prestigious professional appointments and courses in India.
Prior to taking over command of Vajra Corps, Lieutenant General AK Bakshi was the Military Secretary to the President of India at Delhi. A recipient of the Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal for meritorious service, Lieutenant General Bakshi has replaced Lieutenant General Sanjeev Madhok, who has moved to Army Headquarters as Director General information and Technology.
