2-day orientation workshop on Microorganisms concludes at Pushpa Gujral Science City

Kapurthala, August 29, 2014: Microorganisms have generally been considered harmful for long out of fear  by the society as these cause number of diseases. Whereas these are boon to us as these organisms are helpful in preparation of various fermented foods such as dosa idely,  biofertilizers, antibiotics, Vitamins, biofuels etc. These micro organisms are indispensable to our life. Vinegar which is used in household pickles is also prepared using microorganisms. One cannot think of human life possible without microorganisms. This workshop was catalysed and supported by National Council of Science Technology and communications (NCSTC,DST Govt. of India).

These views were expressed by Dr. S.K Soni while addressing to the gathering of school teachers and students from Malwa region of Punjab on the occasion of concluding of two days orientation workshop on Microorganisms being held at Pushpa Gujral Science City. About more than one 50 students and teacher are participating in this workshop from all over the Malwa region of Punjab.

Dr. Soni while emphasising on the role of Microorganisms said that these organisms play a very important role in digestive system of our body and also maintain  a balance of environment by degradation of pollutants . Water is also purified with the help of these organisms .He future said that when the country will run out of petroleum products then bio fuels only will prove to be boon to this society. 

 Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover Director, Pushpa Gujral Science City said that the main objective to organize this workshop is to motivate young students and generate their interest in the field of Microbiology so that they could pursue  their career in this field.
