Chandigarh, August 16, 2014: A team of 20 students including five staff officers from Ladakh Region of Jammu and Kashmir led by Lt Bhattacharya today called on Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil under Operation Sadbhavana an Educational cum Motivational tour, conducted by Indian Army.
While interacting with them, Patil appreciated the role of Indian Army for conducting such Sadbhavana tours which would not only provide them opportunity to visit the various places of our country but will also inculcate a sense of national pride by witnessing vast cultural and religious diversity of India. He said we all were equal even if we belong to different regions and different religions. He said such tours would go long way in giving more exposure to the members of sadbhavana team regarding the rich, vivid and vibrant heritage of the northern states of the country. He said this initiative would also provide an excellent opportunity to the members to broaden their horizons.
Earlier giving brief description regarding the visit, team leader Lt. S.Bhattacharya said that in order to integrate this remote land with the National mainstream, a number of steps are being taken by the Indian Army, under Operation Sadbhavana an Educational cum Motivational tour ,conducted by Indian Army. He said that the tour started from Partappur and reached Chandigarh. Rock Garden Sukhna Lake, Pinjor Garden and Ellante Mall has been visited and will visit Golden Temple, Jallianawala Bag and Wagha boarder in district Amritsar and also places of historical and cultural importance. He said that we are now going to Agra.
Students also performed Ladakhi dance in their traditional dresses at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor and Major Vivek Anand, ADC to Governor.
