New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) The National Commission for Women (NCW) Thursday said the government should create guidelines for intermediaries to pull down any content offensive to women from the internet.
In a statement released after a day-long consultation on cyber crimes against women, the NCW called for sensitising police regarding cyber crimes.
"The government should provide guidelines for intermediaries to pull down any content offensive to women," it said.
Other suggestions called for an awareness training programme as part of curriculum in laws, and proper implementation of the IT Act.
"Like the right to access internet, there should be right to be forgotten. There is a need to amend the IT Act to be more women-centric and considering the rise in the number of cyber crimes, women courts should handle cases of such crimes against women," the statement said.
It said the recommendations would be taken up by the NCW with the appropriate authority.
