New Delhi, March 7, 2014: The Principal District & Sessions Judge, Puducherry convicted G Aneetchan , the then Commissioner of Villianur Commune Panchayat, Puducherry and sentenced him to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.50,000 in a bribery case.
CBI registered a case against G. Aneetchan, the then Commissioner, Villianur Commune Panchayat, Puducherry based on the complaint alleging that G. Aneetchan had demanded a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the complainant for certifying trip sheets for the garbage cleaning work undertaken by him in Villianur area.
After registration of the case, a trap was laid and G Aneetchan was caught red handed while he demanded and accepted bribe of Rs.5,000/- from the complainant. A charge sheet was filed by CBI against the accused G. Aneetchan under sections 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
On completion of trial, the accused G Aneetchan was convicted.
